Black Range Equestrian was started by Lauren, our founder.

Lauren has loved horses since before she can remember, and even had a horse on her first birthday cake! She grew up near the beach in Newcastle NSW, dreaming of horses, drawing horses, and reading every book from the local library about horses.

In her teens, her love of horses was slowly overtaken by music and international travel, and after a brief stint at uni, she returned to horses - driving carriages in Melbourne and working on properties in outback QLD.

After a few more years of international travel, Lauren settled down again in Australia and began to have regular riding lessons where she bought her first horse, Doc. Doc is still in our paddock to this day.

From the purchase of her first horse, it was inevitable that a farm would follow, and from then on, more horses would join the herd. Black Range Equestrian was born a month after moving to 200 acres just outside of Yass NSW in 2016.

Black Range Equestrian started as a DIY agistment property and slowly grew to take on part and full care agistment clients, then added some basic training, until we expanded to include riding lessons from 2022.

The Black Range Equestrian team now consists of 4 staff and some junior volunteers/helpers, providing full care agistment, riding lessons and training to people and horses in the Yass Valley area.

Lauren’s childhood dreams of owning a farm full of horses has come true - and she and the team are here to help you achieve your horse dreams as well.
